First run

Download, install, sign in with your phone number

The whole process takes about three minutes on a normal broadband connection. If the transfer stalls or the installer refuses to run, the questions page walks through the usual causes.

Four settings that stop the app growing all year

A client that has been running for a year with default settings can be holding several gigabytes of cached video. None of it is irreplaceable — it can all be fetched again — so there is no reason to let it accumulate.

Cap automatic downloads

Allow media on Wi-Fi, block it on mobile data, and set a size ceiling so a busy group cannot pull gigabytes through a metered connection.

Set a cache limit

The client keeps opened photos and video on disk. Telling it to clear anything older than a week keeps the footprint flat instead of growing all year.
