    Maintenance and performance release focused on the desktop client's media pipeline and folder handling.

    • Faster thumbnail generation for long media-heavy chats.
    • Folder rules now apply immediately after editing instead of on restart.
    • Reduced memory use when several accounts stay signed in at once.
    • Fixes for notification sounds being ignored after resuming from sleep.

    Stability pass after the 6.2 series launch, with fixes reported against the new sidebar layout.

How updates reach you

You rarely need to reinstall

The desktop client checks for new builds on its own and swaps the files in the background. A restart applies the change. Reinstalling over the top is only necessary when the automatic check is blocked by a network policy or the installation folder is read-only.

  • Check your build in Settings → Advanced → Check for updates.
  • Running a fresh installer over an old copy keeps chats and settings intact.
  • Mobile builds update through Google Play or the App Store, or by installing a newer package.

Version numbering in short

Major.minor
Interface changes and new features, such as the 6.2 series sidebar rework.
Patch
Fixes only. Safe to install immediately; nothing moves in the interface.
Mobile numbering
Android and iOS follow their own sequence, so a mobile version number will not match the desktop one.
