Prefer the browser version?

If you are on a borrowed or locked-down computer where you cannot install software, open the web client instead. Sign in by scanning the QR code with the Telegram app already on your phone, and log out when you are done so the session does not stay active.

Before you click

Four checks that prevent a failed install

CHECK 01

Confirm the platform first

An .apk will not run on Windows and an .exe will not run on a Mac. Match the package to the device you are sitting at before clicking.

CHECK 02

Keep the tab open while it resolves

Each button asks our mirror service for a fresh link, then starts the transfer. That handshake takes a second or two.

CHECK 03

Close an older copy before upgrading

If Telegram is already running, quit it from the tray first so the installer can replace files without a reboot prompt.

CHECK 04

Check free disk space

The client itself is small, but cached media grows over time. Leave at least 1 GB free if you plan to keep photo and video history locally.

Check the size before you run it

A genuine Windows installer is around 48.6 MB. Anything a few megabytes in size is a downloader for something else — the security page lists the rest of the warning signs.
