TIP 01

Turn the chat list into folders

Settings → Folders. Create Work, Family and Channels, then include chat types or specific conversations. Exclude Saved Messages and personal chats from the work tab so unread counters stay honest.

Folders sync to every device, so the same tabs appear on phone and desktop.
TIP 02

Use Saved Messages as a clipboard

Forward a link, photo or document to Saved Messages instead of emailing it to yourself. It is searchable, cloud-backed and available the moment you open Telegram on another machine.

TIP 03

Mute with an end date

Long-press a noisy group → Mute → choose a duration instead of forever. Temporary mutes expire automatically, so you do not forget to turn alerts back on after a conference week.

TIP 04

Cap the media cache on Windows

Settings → Advanced → Storage usage. Set a clear-cache interval and review the largest chats. Cached video can grow for months with default settings even though every file can be re-downloaded.

A yearly cache purge keeps the desktop client from eating disk space.
TIP 05

Schedule messages instead of staying online

Type a message, open the send menu and pick a time. Useful for team updates that should land at the start of a shift, or birthday notes that should not leave your drafts folder overnight.

TIP 06

Archive instead of leaving

Swipe or right-click → Archive. The chat leaves the main list but stays searchable, and unmuted chats still raise a badge. Better than leaving a group you may need again next quarter.

Harden the account after the tips

Folders and mute rules make the app quieter. Two-step verification and session review make it harder to take over. Spend ten minutes on the security checklist once the tips above are in place.
